Dear SePTEMBER LETTERS COMMUNITY,

When we launched September Letters, we could never have imagined all that we would build together as a community. When we pressed “live” on our website back in September 2020, we simply hoped a few letters might find their way to us. Since then, thousands have arrived from every corner of the world. What began as an idea has evolved into a platform, a book and now a movement, all rooted in one shared belief that the simple, powerful act of letter writing and sharing our stories can bring us closer, strengthen our mental health, and remind us that we’re never alone.

It has been an absolute privilege to read your stories, to feel that spark of connection when we meet in person, and to hear how you’ve woven our book into your daily lives. September Letters: Finding Strength and Connection in Sharing Our Stories is a collection of voices and lessons that we hope becomes a comforting tool in your own toolbox—a reminder that healing happens when we share, listen, and hold space for one another.

We are endlessly proud of this community (that is YOU!) for finding solace, hope, and belonging in our cozy corner of the internet. We hope you take a moment to read, to write, or to request a letter even if it is a photo of a doodle on a Post It Note. Above all, we hope you remember this: your story matters. Write it down. Share it. Or simply keep it in your back pocket. Your words have the power to connect, to heal, and to remind you that you’re never alone.

A Letter of Embrace
and Release

In this heartfelt letter from Rachel Platten, she encourages herself to embrace self-love, grace, and vulnerability. Reflecting on her journey, she emphasizes the importance of letting go and trusting the process, especially as she prepares to release her first album in seven years. The letter highlights the significance of accepting both joy and pain, celebrating the power of surrender and the freedom that comes with it.

Ultimately, she reassures her future self that she is worthy of love and support, urging her to be proud of who she has become.

September Letters
is a therapeutic letter
writing experience.

We hope to start a ripple effect of openness so others may feel comfortable to share their own story. The more we share, the more someone may hear their own journey and realize they are not alone.

Join us in opening this conversation. It's hard to categorize the complexity of what we feel, but we tried our hardest to help organize and direct you to the right collection of letters to read and engage with. Browse through and see what other people are feeling and experiencing.
