Learn to Fight: From Alexis

Bullying almost ended me. It left me gasping for air to the point where it felt like no return. There was no hope left in my life.
But then as I got older, I realized me and my bully weren’t so different. We both looked in the mirror and saw exactly what we didn’t want to see. We both wore long sleeves to protect eyes from the lines along our arms.
But how could two people that were so same internally seem so different? The truth is, no matter what battle goes on inside of you, you can choose what to do with it. You can choose to be weak like the bully, making others feel bad for your own good. Or you can choose to be strong. You can choose to fight it and stand up for yourself.

So what will you choose?

We understand we sometimes need more support than writing and reading letters. We all experience hard times. But you are not alone. If you or someone you know is struggling, there are many forms of support. If you or a loved one is in immediate danger, call 911. It is important to notify the operator that it is a psychiatric emergency and ask for an officer trained to assist people experiencing a psychiatric emergency.
