Memories Lay Deeper: From Sophia

A poem for those who need it 🙂
Bruises may fade but memories lay deeper.
Emotions lay deeper than bruises. The violation of trust and self worth; your stolen voice. These hurt deeper than the darkening bruise he left on your arm.The bleeding cut he gave to you when you fought back. The way he held you down. You can’t see my pain, I won’t let you, but it’s their; laying slightly deeper, below the surface. Haunting me. The memories are hidden from the human eye;no one can see that your hurting, you need help. The cuts and bruises may heal but the memories just simmer, waiting for the day they can reopen and bring back all of the pain he once caused you.
You’re 22 and you have a boyfriend. He tells you he loves you but you don’t know how to say it back. He tells you he wants to move in together but you can’t even imagen him staying the night. He comforts you and makes you feel safe but a part of you still wonders if this will last? Will he hurt me? Am I falling for a trap? Am I too broken for him? All of the questions bombard your mind, spiralling into a bubble of chaos yet his simple voice saying hello is enough to bring you back to reality. Sometimes, take a leap of faith, hope that he can be the man that you need, you can be the girl. Hope you can be open enough to not let your first love destroy this one.
Take a leap, fee the trust, feel okay again 🙂 xx

We understand we sometimes need more support than writing and reading letters. We all experience hard times. But you are not alone. If you or someone you know is struggling, there are many forms of support. If you or a loved one is in immediate danger, call 911. It is important to notify the operator that it is a psychiatric emergency and ask for an officer trained to assist people experiencing a psychiatric emergency.
