Who You’re Supposed to Be: From Ruby

about a week or two ago, one of my favourite people in the whole world gave a speech, and one line stood out to me so much that i don’t i’ll ever forget. he said “do not let anyone tell you who you’re supposed to be”. every single time i go to change something about myself just to suit others, i repeat that in my head, and i don’t think it’s leaving. i am meant to be who i am, and no one can change that. i won’t let anyone change that. i’d like to think i’m already a very confident person, but this one quote might have just changed how i view life and myself forever. i just thought i’d share this, so if anyone happens to be as connected and inspired by it as i feel, they’ll know they’re not alone. happy september.

We understand we sometimes need more support than writing and reading letters. We all experience hard times. But you are not alone. If you or someone you know is struggling, there are many forms of support. If you or a loved one is in immediate danger, call 911. It is important to notify the operator that it is a psychiatric emergency and ask for an officer trained to assist people experiencing a psychiatric emergency.
