5 questions: from Rachel Bloom

1. In this moment, I’m grateful for my daughter.

2. A defining moment that shaped my life was the moment Aline Brosh McKenna told me “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend” was picked up to series. We’d had so much rejection with that show and for it to actually become real was triumphant.

3. During a bout with sleep anxiety, my husband gently said to just try and rest and not put pressure on myself to sleep.

4. My younger self would be proud of me for all of my career accomplishments but I would impress upon her that she should be just as proud of the fact I’m getting more than four hours of sleep each night.

5. “Let your daughter be your guide” – from my psychiatrist.

  1. Thanks for sharing this Rachel, I love it when people share their own personal list of things they are thankful for, things that others may not think twice about, but that means the absolute world to you. When it comes to what you love most, and a job that you have that you love so much, I always remember the quote: “rejection isn’t failure, failure is giving up. Everyone gets rejected, it’s how you deal with it that determines where you end up.” – (Castle) – because at the end of the day, if you believe in yourself, you will fight and fight and continue fighting so that afterwards, you can look back and say ‘I gave it my all, and tried my very hardest’, as opposed to ‘what if’.

We understand we sometimes need more support than writing and reading letters. We all experience hard times. But you are not alone. If you or someone you know is struggling, there are many forms of support. If you or a loved one is in immediate danger, call 911. It is important to notify the operator that it is a psychiatric emergency and ask for an officer trained to assist people experiencing a psychiatric emergency.
